I wrote a wee primer on our happy hormones that landed in your inbox the other day. I mentioned that I immersed myself in countless hours of lectures, videos, and podcasts. There is so much information available, but not all of it is digestible. Much of it fspeaks only of the chemical structures or feels like it was done for extra credit for a lab practical. One particular cringey video depicts dopamine and serotonin as sexy, big-boobed Indiana Jones-esque comic book heroines.
Here is a curated list of podcasts and short videos that were approachable and enlightening. Give them a watch or listen on your lunch break or commute.
If you have any suggestions for other ones, please leave them in the comments.
A quick 10 minute video on some differences between dopamine and serotonin with Dr. Robert Lustig, MD,MSL.
And the extended play podcast it was extracted from on FitMind.
Alie Ward is the host and creator of the Ologies podcast. Her mission is to ask smart people stupid questions resulting in a ridiculously entertaining and educational listen. (She even makes worms interesting.)
Molecular Neurobiology with Dr. Crystal Dilworth
Gut Biome with Dr. Elaine Hsiao
Loretta Graziano Breuning, PhD of the Inner Mammal Institute has a series of 7 short videos about your happy hormones. She also hosts a podcast about our wild and wacky brains.
This is the last call to add to our collaborative slide deck with images of what brings us joy.
It’s this easy:
Think of something that brings you joy.
Find an image/picture or gif that represents your joy.
Have a look around through the slides.
Copy/paste or drag/drop it on one of the slides in a way that makes you happy. You can create a new slide, or drop your joy bombs on an existing page.
Repeat if desired.
