Here’s a fun little thing:
There’s a big, beautiful park near my house. I’m on a quest to walk 1 million steps between Jan 1 and March 31, 2024. A healthy percentage of my steps are taken in this park. A lot happens on the sidewalks, lawns and benches of Forsyth Park. Love is always in the air. I’ve seen kissing, canoodling, marry, and betrothing.
Standing by the fountain waiting on a friend the other day, I saw so much going on. A young couple was reenacting their engagement for posterity and/or save-the-dates. Their professional photographer coached them through poses to create authenic-looking images. While the guy emulated his bent-knee performance, the photographer told the woman where to put her hands on her mouth to appear surprised without covering her face.
There was no shortage of onlookers congratulating them and wishing them well. This photoshoot was the center of attention.
I shifted my gaze to look across the fountain. At that moment a man popped down on one knee, his hands offering a ring up to a woman. Her hands flew to her mouth. She did a little jump for joy then reached for him. They kissed. They hugged. She dabbed at her eyes. He slid the ring on. She held her hand out to admire the ring. They embraced for a long while.
No one else seemed to notice this life-changing moment, even people who were less than three feet away, because they were all occupied watching the photoshoot.
And now…
