I have a little secret.
I don’t know if you’ve picked up on it at all.
This month, the theme we’re exploring is self-love.
Remember way back when to the first weekend in January (it feels like a million years ago), I asked you to asked you to write a bit about all of your good qualities and how freaking amazing you are? Some of you sent me yours and they were stunning. I could read them all day long.
Each of those emails voiced a similar feeling: that it’s hard to cast yourself in such a shining light1. It’s hard to view and write about yourself with uninhibited positivity.
We’ve been conditioned to look at ourselves critically, to pick ourselves apart looking for faults like a vulture scavenging meat from a carcass.
We are so good at it.
Like, Olympic level good.
What a stupid skill.
